Suwonneh's Memorial in Melrose, FL Feb. 2012

Suwonneh Wood, a long time resident of Melrose Floida, died unexpectedly at her home in North Berwick Maine, January 8, 2012 after a brief illness. Suwonneh was a nurse/healer, musician, singer/songwriter, animal lover and friend to many. She was born July 19, 1947 in Malden, MA, the only daughter of Vincent and Barbara F. (Knight) Petrucci. Suwonneh was currently working as a registered nurse at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, Maine. She is survived by her brother, Robert J. Petrucci and his wife Suzanne of Boylston, MA and a nephew Noah J. Petrucci of Brooklyn, NY. Suwonneh was a member of a folk trio [with David Beede & Mark Treacy] well known around Gainesville Florida during the late 70s playing under the tongue in cheek name of "No Commercial Appeal." They played folk festivals, coffee houses and street corners from New Orleans to Maine, sharing their enthusiastic versions of American and British Isle folk tunes. Here are links to some songs from that era featuring Suwonneh's beautiful voice. In addition to singing Suwonneh played guitar, penny whistle, dulcimer and bowed psaltery.
